Results of the
2013
COMPETITIONS - ACADEMIC, SPORTING & OTHERS
Our Netballers made it to the zonal finals. They placed second.
Peppy Spelling Bee competition: Our representative placed 2nd in the West Fraternity competition, and 6th in the District Competition. Students also participated in the Independent Credit Union Spelling Bee Competition and made it into the semi-final round
Our two competitors in the Port-of-Spain & Environs Red Cross Spelling Bee Competition, Joel Harris and Shania Perez were finalists in the 2013 competition. Joel Harris was the eventual winner, while Shania Perez was the Second Runner-up. Joel Harris as District Champion is supposed to represent Port-of-Spain & Environs in the National Competition on a date to be announced.
The use of Technology in the Classroom using "TABLETS" was officially launched at the school on 16th May although the tablets and the apps were in use since November 2012. Teachers privately purchased the tablets and began using the apps with the slow learners in their classes.
The Local School Board of the Patna/River Estate Government Primary donated five (5) 8 inch Idolian Tablets to the school's Technology in the Classroom Initiative in May 2013.
In September 2013, the West Shore Medical Facility donated thirty (30) 8 inch Idolian Tablets to our Technology in the Classroom Initiative. Together with those initially purchased by the school and donated by well wishers, our grand total of tablets thus far is forty-six (46). These tablets are being used exclusively in the instruction of the entire enrolment. They are distributed and timetabled based on levels namely: Infant Years 1 & 11 and Standard 1 (15 tablets); Standards 2 & 3 (15 tablets) and Standards 4 & 5 (16 tablets).
SEA 2013
2013 SEA Results released by the Ministry of Education again reflected an increase in students' all-round academic performance. The top girl and boy were placed at St. Francois' Girls' College and Queens Royal College respectfully of the 45 students who wrote the examination, over 35% were placed in either their first or second choice schools.
NATIONAL TEST
National Test Results for 2013 showed that our students' academic performance continued to improve such that for the second consecutive year we were off "Academic Watch". The Academic Performance Index is used to rank schools based on the performance of Standards One and Three in the subject areas of Math and Language Arts.
