PARALLEL CURRICULUM- LAUNCHED APRIL 26TH 2011
PARALLEL CURRICULUM
This Programme, unique to the Patna/River Estate Government Primary School is the brainchild of the current Principal Mrs. Beguesse. Research proved that students who were not responding well academically had innate skills and abilities that, if nurtured would equip them to become contributing members of society who viewed their social responsibility seriously.
She therefore sought the support of the school's stakeholders to fund a programme that would encourage these students to learn the three r's, as well acquire a skill so that they could maximise their earning potential. as with any new initiative, several stumbling blocks were encountered. Eventually, the Local School Board, which is a Ministry of Education financed element set up to assist the school's administration with developing and executing programmes to enhance both the physical and academic well being of the school, voted to embrace this initiative as one of its main projects.
The Citizens' Security Programme, a unit of the Ministry of National Security was approached to provide funding. They accepted this responsibility and contracted to fund the programme for a period of three years.
The Parallel Curriculum at the Patna/River Estate Government Primary School was finally launched on April 26th 2011 with sixty students in its initial enrolment. Because of the design of the programme, all sixty students received part time tuition from tutors.
